Season 2 Is In Full Swing ... Pun Intended!
Hello fans and welcome to the new Same Is Lame Jazz Ambassadors web site! We are very proud to be showcasing the tremendous talent of the many performers who have graced our ranks in this, our first year.
We have had a number of amazing musicians play with us during our first season (January - July 2016) and we are indebted to all of them for getting our band off to an incredible start. While many of them are no longer in the band, they have all played an integral part in making us who we are today.
In August, we started our second season. The new line-up features some of the best local talent in the area and we are thrilled to share our passion for big band music with audiences all over north central Florida. We have seasoned professionals, music educators, college students and high school musicians amongst our ranks. We even have an elementary school assistant principal, a DOJ Administrator and a engineer in the band! Seven of the band's original members are still playing in the Ambassadors.
This season kicked off with a fantastic show in October where we had a chance to share the stage with students from Clermont Middle School. We were excited to have the CLMS "Flight of Sound" Jazz Ensemble open for us and then join us for two numbers in which we performed together as a combined "huge" band! It was a lot of fun for them ... and us!
We are now preparing to present our Holiday Jazz In The Park performance on Monday, December 12th where we will, once again, share the stage with some talented student musicians. We are very excited to have the J Street Jazz Combo, a jazz quintet made up of students from South Lake High School, performing as our opening act. Please come out and see us on Monday evening at 7:00 PM at Lake David Park in Groveland. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the sounds of holiday jazz!
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Keep it jazzy!
